Montclair State University is New Jersey’s second largest and fastest growing university. Facing shrinking usage of landline phones in the residence halls, increased difficulty communicating with students, and an important decision on whether or not to install landlines into new residence hall construction, Montclair State University administrators opted to embrace the future and launch a mobile phone program for its students. Montclair State University provides all incoming freshmen with Internet- and GPS-enabled mobile phones that come pre-loaded with Rave applications that strengthen community, enhance academics, and improve campus safety.
Solution: Rave Campus™
Results:
- 3,000+ mobile phones provided to students
- No-cost build-out of cellular coverage across campus

- Enhanced campus safety
- Increased sense of community and school spirit

- Won 2007 Campus Technology Innovator Award
“Rave Wireless took the preferred communications device of the youth market (the mobile phone) and transformed it into an educational and community-building tool that will enable Montclair State to take a huge leap forward in preparing our students for productive roles in a technology-based society.
